ABSTRACT:The new scheme of a mechanism assigned to support the shaft being machined and automatically control its dimensions is described. The mechanism automatically resets from supporting and control of one shaft step to the other at machining of multi step shafts at an operation. The mechanism is mostly suitable for cylindrical grinding operations. It consists of the slider moving in an axial plane of the part being machined perpendicular to the axis of the part and supporting it from the side opposite to direction or radial component of the grinding force. Longitudinal movement of the slider is measured by the wide range measuring transducer. The slider carries the pattern with two straight lined surfaces, located symmetrically to the axis of the slider, and inclined to some angle ? to the axis of the slider from the both its sides. These straight lined surfaces of the pattern are connected with the leavers measuring the diameter of the part being machined. Calculation and simulation equations are derived to define dependencies between specific linear dimensions of mechanism an inclination angle ? of the pattern. Some graphical simulation results are presented in the paper.
