ABSTRACT:For using virtual learning environments and e-learning portals in logistics in a wider scale, it is essential to improve interactivity requested by the student. The more complex problems and exercises are the better they meet requirements of professional life. The paper presents an example for how problem-based learning can be implemented in a web-based learning environment. For this, LogEduGate which is an e-learning environment tailor-made to the specific needs of logistics education includes a virtual project workspace that provides learners with access to all knowledge units, a wide variety of additional tools and a selection of projects. Some of these projects require the use of simulation methodology, for which a professional simulation package was made available. With this, new promising ways are expected to be opened up for easy to handle, low-cost implementation of simulation as part of a problem-based learning scenario.
