ABSTRACT:
Total quality management can be viewed as an attempt to improve quality, cut costs and increase customer satisfaction and profit throughout an organization. It takes many forms but it must involve lots of people throughout the entire business organization. Naturally, statistical analysis can play a large role in this process of analyzing and sorting through the data and figures to see where improvements can be made.
Fortunately, the computer age of the 21st century makes possible the development of new computer based statistics to aid this goal of total quality management. Featured here will be three statistics from the new family of TSP statistics, that will be applied to try to increase efficiency and profitability in shipping. Additionally, a package design problem with a goal of reducing shipping costs will be presented, after the TSP statistics examples.
