ABSTRACT:In this research we aim at using simulation for the purpose of Business Process redesign. [3] Describes the potential uses of simulation in BPR, including identifying processes for innovation, Identifying change levers, developing process visions, understanding an existing process and designing a new one. Our research addresses the latter two issues and uses two best practices in Business Process Redesign to rethink an existing process. (Limam and Reijers, 2002) provide a review of the major best practices in the area. Parallelism (“Consider whether tasks may be executed in parallel”) and Resequencing tasks (“Move tasks to more appropriate places”) are often used when issues about the process behaviour are addressed. As the authors mention in their paper, the two best practices have been widely cited but relatively poorly supported by analytical solutions, let alone the combination of both best practices.
