ABSTRACT: This tool is the end result of a cooperation between the University of Genoa’s Department of Production Engineering and Atomos SpA, an Italian company producing software for SCM (Supply Chain Management) and SCE (Supply Chain Execution). The architecture, called Atomos e-Manufacturing, provides a complete solution in order to perform supply and execution integrated management. With respect to the improvement plans related to the SCM solution the purpose of this project was to design and develop a new software product able to plan production and procurements, by using a finite capacity approach, over a multi-site production system. In particular, this tool is able to validate the demand forecasts through many simulations by using a constrained planning engine based on previous studies [Schenone, Bernocco and Tonelli 2003]. The high level of user interaction has been reached through an on-line multidimensional analysis interface; output, a finite capacity MPS, is used to feed the MRP/CRP modules and with respect to the medium/long term to define the availability profiles used by the ATP/CTP procedures (Available To Promise/Capable To Promise).
