Liophant Football Team lays the Foundation Stone on Savona Campus Football History
First Game Winner: 5-1
Finally, after over 10 years, today 22 june 2005, the soccer playfield of Savona Campus is back in action!Inaugural Opening was based on a four team Trophy where Liophant had opportunity to excel.
The Liophant Football Team played the first game on the Playfield, facing a team composed by Students from Environmental Engineering Department of Genoa University and succeeding 4-1.
The Liophants in the final was facing the "Tecnici Gestionali" Team.
The three first goals secured the Cup for Liophant, while the game final score 5-1 closed the Trophy as they claimed a deserved victory over "Tecnici Gestionali" in the final in Savona Campus.
It is the first edition of Savona Campus Trophy and Liophant have won this football's ultimate prize, cementing their status as the most successful team in the history of the Campus.
Liophant Football Team Captain accepted the trophy in an emotional prize-giving ceremony with his team and Club President in a Champagne waterfall (Veuve Cliquot for gossip columinst).
All Liophant Members are proud not only of this result, but especially for the "Savoir Faire" and "Fair Play" demonstrated by all Liophant Players during the games, the ceremonies and in the interactions with other teams: Liophant Flags was flying, despite some gaffe of the organizers/promoters (i.e. shirts, banners etc.).
The skills, but especially the motivation of the team was really touching, and almost all the Liophant Officiers attended the Games (General Director, Treasurer, President and Project Controller); at the closing Ceremony Liophant President was very glad to thank Liophant Team and to add this Cup to the Club Collection.
